Hey all, chasing some teething issues with my BB and Crankset. I will preface, yes the crankset and BB are ali express and yes Im aware theyre likely shit. Theyre temporary while I decide if I like 165mm cranks.
Now, I have a feeling the spindle length is too short as the spindle doesnt fully engage with the non drive side unless I run no spacers on the non drive side and even then its not sitting out far enough. If i run spacers then the crank has play fore and aft. The non drive crank also seems to have a tendency to back itself out
Next thing is the BB creaks something horrific. It looks like theres a metal sleeve in the centre that almost sounds like the creak when I move it by hand. My mate installed the BB and I have a feeling he's overtightened it causing the excess stress on this sleeve. I have planned to replace the ali BB with a genuine sram one but dont want to if this is a sram dub issue and not necessarily due to it being a cheap chinese BB.
Any ideas on where to go that isnt "JuSt gEt GeNuInE cRaNkS". This is a learning opportunity for me to figure out why exactly im facing these issues. Got some pics below for reference

I hate to break it to ya, but it doesn’t look like your mate knows what he is doing, since the BB shell isn’t even fully installed in the frame. There shouldn’t be a gap between the frame and the splines of the BB shell. Fixing that should solve your length and creaking issues, provided that the BB and shell were properly cleaned and dried before installation.
