I come from a motocross background, and I would never use these boots for actually riding dirt bikes, but I have thought about using them for BMX. If you ride brakeless, you probably go through shoes pretty quickly. I imagine these would last a lot longer and provide more protection from ankle and foot injuries. I’m wondering if anybody has tried this or thought the same. What do you guys think?

No thanks. Even if they function better in every way I’m too vain to wear something that heinous.
Why when vans sk8 hi are a thing
I prefer having a solid platform like that for mountain biking, but for BMX, I need to be able to feel where my feet are on the pedals. Softer skate shoes like Vans or Ride Concepts Vices are my go to. But it’s all personal preference. Wearing an ankle brace with a shoe is really easy too.
I think they’re dope.
Definitely not. You want something thats going to grip the pedals but also give you feel to. Vans or Nike SB for me
They will probably have bad grip, but maybe last longer. For ankle protection if you are serious about riding get ankle braces .I bought space brace and it was worth it, no more breaking/spraining ankle from putting foot down or not catched tailwhip.
Nike AF1 Mid07 are nice and stable and support ankle suprisingly well.
They’ll probably be a little too stiff and not grip properly. Different design requirements between motorcycles and BMX.
Even between BMX and MTB.
Those are wild!! But those lugs in the tread are going to make it real hard to feel connected to your pedals.
I wish they would Just make some shells that slip into some pockets sewn on some hi sk8s
Definitely not, WAY too stiff. Possibly MTB downhill shoes and match them with proper pinned pedals if you want a good amount of foot protection and likely a longer lasting shoe. Dont skip shin guards with MTB pedals.
It’s a different feeling though, we like some pedal feel – some shoes offer more feel than others but there is still some feel in all proper skate/BMX/street MTB shoes. Basically feels like hovering over the pedal with a DH shoe – a bit overkill but if it works for someone then good on them. A moto boot is like putting on a bulletproof vest for an airsoft match though
I’d just ride in work boots they grip great and are durable
I had a pair of Etnies Rubens back in the day. They had a removable ankle guard/pad. They saved my ankles when I was learning tailwhips. They were a good looking shoe too.
