An inclusive video that will surely get good traction on YT and beyond. I'm sure people of all persuasions will appreciate the history of the local area ,Gordon.
Very interesting- I'd never heard of any of that before. It makes you realise that we live on top of layers and layers of the past, and it helps us appreciate this "ordinary " place we live in – if that's not too pretentious!😄
Not heard of that battle i did cycle out to marston moor from Cattal !,and general Monck sacked Dundee and left with the gold ,which was lost as the ships floundered in a storm ,all items were listed and the current value of the lost booty £2billion its still there
Another great ride Gordon with some very interesting points of history. Your ride reminds me of when in the early to mid 80s I used to go out with the local ctc club over a lot of the old green lanes in the dales and Lancashire on our road bikes looking at points of interest along the way, stopping for a break and getting the flask out and sandwiches and taking it all in, happy days 😀
An interesting journey through history, Gordon, albeit a little "bittie" due to those route changes and the terrain. All good knowledge in the bag though!
Are you enjoying your MTB? Since I got my gravel bike, my MTB has been rusting away in the basement. I used it for a while the winter before last, but now I have a winter set of wheels and tires for my gravel bike…

Interesting history 🙂
A wonderful 'bike ramble', Gordon. Always an education and so interesting to learn the origin and meaning of 'Royd'.
Brilliant video, Gordon. Love your history rides
All too easy to race through the landscape and not see what's actually around you. Good video. Love the history 👍
