I've installed a 40t chainring on my C Line 6 speed. There are some steep hills where I live and I found even on the 44t ring I had previously I would have liked a lower gear. Haven't changed the chain, it's still a 96 link, seems to be ok in the house but will test it today under load 😀.

  1. I believe the main problem with too long a chain is when you fold it, so check that too.

Just rode up a couple of hills pedalling hard and no issues so all looks good. Is also fine when folded. To be honest not much of a difference from the 44t but a little lower gear is better for me . Haven’t tried to see where it spins out yet but then the only time I am going fast anyway is freewheeling down hills 😂

It helps. Unfortunately, it wasn’t enough for me with climbing up to 17% grades, so I went further down to 34T (crankset) with 92 links.
