I went solo on the Burnt Country 350 (route is on bikepacking.com) in Northeast Oregon near the Snake River. 350 miles in 6 days with a brand spanking new bike, bags, and gadgets. I haven't owned a bike since I was 10 and decided to dive into the deep end of bikepacking as a long time backpacker. I trained for 6 weeks leading up to the trip (didn't do as many climbs as I should've, those were rough).
The hardest parts were this really steep 2.5 mile section that I had to hike-a-bike, which took me 2 hours, and pushing through 3 miles of snow. I took a risk doing this section knowing that it's usually only passable starting in May, but Oregon had such a terrible snow year that I took the chance and hoped. Overall, not as grueling as I thought it'd be. I only cried once! And they were happy tears while bombing down a hill!
I got a lot of help from locals (was offered and accepted many beers), didn't get eaten by wolves, and ate a lot of shitty gas station nacho cheese. I would call it an absolute success. I'm hooked and already planning my next trip.
Also, the stuffed lizard is named Ferdinand, and he travels with me. Last pic is the pose I did when this trucker said "alright now do your girly poses or whatever"
