a bud of mine offered me a fox 38 factory, for a great price, he couldnt sell it because it doesnt fit 29 inch wheel and my bike is 27.5, i wanted to upgrade but couldnt find a fork for 27.5 so thats a win win, the question is that the 38 is 170mm travel and my fork is 160, a2c of the 38 is around 565, its 12-13 mm more than stock, found some info that this frame supports 563 or smth mm a2c but i dont know if its official, still worry the geo will be silly, should i try it anyways? i dont like the 35mm stanchions, forks arent stiff enough and dont perform well on fast tech, i dont like the stiction too, its good after servicing but quickly degrades so i end up servicing it all the time. i dont care that the 38 might look wierd on such a old frame, a love the frame and the 170mm 38 will be a great fork for a next gen tyee (still 27.5) that i might get after this one

35mm lyrik not stiff enough? – Maybe you should check your spoke tensions? Sticky? – Whaaaat? Who does service? I hopped from 34 factory to pike… And its perfect.. Stiffer, more supple, and VERY active. Kashima coating is just more robust than fox black anod but not the most slickest..

And finally answer to your questions: fork travel is tunable. So if you want – you can change it.🫡
