I'm a 5'2" female and I've read 48" seems about right. The seller doesn't provide much of a description so I'm not sure if this is a deal, or I'm buying a lemon.
What questions should I ask before driving for 40 minutes to see it? Any info and suggestions are appreciated as I don't know too much about bikes. He said it was barely used, like new, no repairs required.

I realize I forgot to list the asking price – $300 CAD, and he said it was purchased about 5 years ago.
$300 Canadian is about $215 US. For that amount, you can barely buy a new Walmart bike.
This is a lot better bike than anything at Walmart, even the newer Ozark Trail bikes that are getting rave reviews, and as a SERIOUS bonus, this will probably actually fit you as a slighty smaller than average female, as opposed to the single size that Walmart bikes come in, which is appropriate for an average sized male.
