I got this sweet ride for $200 today, everything included.. I over paid but the seller was the sweetest old lady and I didn’t have the heart to haggle her down. With the Brooks seat I figure it’s not the worst deal in the world, but man is this thing cool! Going to clean it up this weekend and start collecting parts to update the drivetrain this summer. Will definitely be replacing the tires before I take it anywhere outside the neighborhood (still has the original set it came with when purchased new, according to the seller)

The panniers are pretty dope, too.
But yea I’m surprised how much you paid in this market.

Sweet find. I love my power ratchet thumbies. You can always try a 700c conversion if you’re feeling frisky.

Very nice! I’d be tempted to maybe convert it to 700c and freshen up the tires, cables, and brake pads but I’d personally keep it close to original. That’s a beautiful bike.

If it fits you and you wanna use whats there, you got a steal!

Grips, pedals?, cables and housings, pads, tires, chain?

Free panniers, free bags, free fenders, free saddle, free rack, free reflectors, free bottle cages, free pump?

    Hope you love it!

That bike originally came with drop bars and was hands down the most popular bike in the touring club I belonged to back in the 80s. It seemed like every third person rode one on the weekend camping tours.

I’ve got the 1983 model, looks the same, but yours has a different head badge, so maybe its 1982.

The Mountech rear derailleurs are apparently notorious for failing, im not sure how, mine had already been replaced with a Simano 600, but something to keep an eye on, if you keep the current drive train.

  8. My friend. I have this same bike in the same color and it’s in my top 2. Mine has a different crank, and different font on the downtube “miyata” also these bikes came with drop bars and down tube shifters, so someone modded this already. This frame feels so easy, comfortable, and efficient to ride I’d say try it like it is before changing too much around. If you’re wondering, I can fit 700x38c after converting from 27”

  9. if those are 27″ wheels, i highly recommend the swifttire sand canyons as replacements. about the same price as paselas, but wider and more supple.
