  1. The Old Man Mountain has a lifetime warranty but you’ll never need it because the rack is so reliable. It’s also super a dual it fits your bike perfectly.

  2. I haven’t used either rack, but looking at them, the OMM seems better suited to carrying panniers. The lower struts on the VO rack seem very high and I think they’d only be useful for micro panniers. I also note they don’t show any pictures of it with panniers.

Another rack to consider is the Tumbleweed Pannier Rack. I just used it for a month in Peru and it posed absolutely no problems.

  3. I don’t think there is anything inherently wrong with the Divide, however, its pretty tough to fit and not nearly as strong without the OMM/Robert’s Axle which adds another 100-150 dollars to the cost of the rack.

The bottom eyelets sit very far from the bike this can protect the bike a bit, but also makes it harder to pack and blocks water bottle eyelets on your rear triangle (if you have those, maybe its only GMXs).

The rack is very heavy, it is rated for 70lbs so this is understandable but its probably too heavy unless you are hauling that much weight…

The size of the deck is very small, and its hard to use with panniers for a rack this heavy.

I have one and think its a good rack, I just have a hard time using it for anything but commuting.
