I started with a bare bones A-line and did a few small upgrades, like fenders, to start with.
Deciding I wasn't satisfied with the jumps between the 3 speeds, I decided to consider my options. I thought about going to a 7 speed rear wheel, but then found a 3 speed external casette for the bsr hub.
I realized that the standard brompton chain pusher would not shift as far as a I needed, so I got a derailleur hanger and dug a deore derailleur out of the parts bin. It works amazingly well.

I love it. Where did you buy that chain keeper doodad attached to the end of your derailleur?
Upgraditis, I’ve got it as well!
This is the way. Brompton really should look at providing conventional derailleurs by default. The improvement is huge.
Love it! How is the experience with the external derailleur when unfolding the bike? I’m asking because I have a Brompnot with an external derailleur and sometimes, when I unfold it and start pedalling, will experience chain slippage, which I never do with my OG Brompton, so I’d like to know if it’s common or just due to my bike using a garbage derailleur
