Going to build some GR531db hoops w/ brass nipples. This is the first time I have seen these washers, I'm used to the curved ones that are wider. I can find nothing online about these except another person asking about them here a month ago.
Anything to know? Any reason to prefer the older washers?

do the nipples fit into them? maybe for rims without reinforcing around the holes?
Interesting design. I wonder if the whole idea is to allow the nipple to rotate more freely so it doesn’t create a pressure hotspot on the rim? It also doesn’t have the sharp edge of the old version which could make nipples break right at the spot where they rest on the washer.

They answer pretty quickly from my experience.
LOL I just called a long standing wheel building shop I have used before, whose opinion I trust.
They said they have received a few rims with those washers too. They reached out to DT and DT didn’t know anything about it and couldn’t help, so they just set them aside and kept building with the old washers.
Amazing hahaha.
Are they from soft material? Because usually, I prefer my washers to distribute the load, not concentrate it on a miniscule ring surface. Either these are for specific rims or have to be really soft and squash – in which case I would have no concern. Otherwise I would stick to the flat originals.
