Hey there!

I am currently considering upgrading my current fox float x factory on my propain ekano 2. I just don't feel comfortable and can't figure the settings out. I am also more familiar with riding coil on my previous dh bike.

What can you suggest buying 1 of those 2? I am mostly riding trails, enjoying jumps and probably 2-3x bike parks a year. My front is a 38 fox factory.

Regards and cheers

When you say “can’t figure the settings out” is that implying you are having challenges understanding how to tune this shock and shocks in general?

  2. You’re going to get a billion impassioned responses from people who are just telling you why their shock on their bike is the best.

I prefer the feel and performance of Fox stuff to RS. And I don’t like having boutique suspension on my bike. There isn’t a meaningful gain in performance for a whole lot more annoyances.

X2 is a great shock for an enduro bike and what I have on mine. I got it over a coil because there is a lot better tunability and I still prefer the feel of an air shock. It’s meant to be a linear air shock that does what a coil does. And it gets close.

But there are a lot of people who still swear by coils and that also legit

Going from a float X to an X2 was a massive upgrade on my enduro. The X2 made the bike way more smooth, grippier, and handle chunk better. It really killed jumping when I first got it, which is a common complaint, but that was a tuning issue. It jumps just fine with the right amount of LSC.

  3. The „old“ x2 models are horrible regarding maintenance. Before MJ 2024 you have to service it nearly half a year. MJ 2024/2025 is better but it seems they fixed the cavitation issues only with the 2026 updated models. I wouldn’t recomment one from before 2024.

  4. Neither. They’re both utter trash. Get a Rockshox coil shock or an X-Fusion H3C instead.
