There is a bike lane you are not utilizing that gives enough space for a bike and a car to fit in the road. I am a cyclist and I would be furious if a rider did this whilst I am driving.
Use the bloody bike lane and everybody is happy.

i think you’re riding very well. i am not sure i would have bothered taking the lane for those islands, but it’s something i’ll be more aware of in future (i think maybe they’re less common where i ride which might explain things).
also, wow, the driver passing on the other side of an island to save a few seconds 🫤
