I’m fitting a new front derailleur, Shimano Altus FD-M2000-DS3.

I was confused by how the cable should be routed. This is the only configuration that seems to work, but it’s destroyed the cable with some very abrupt angles. the shifter also feels very tight. What am I missing? thanks.

I can’t find anything in the manual:

It looks like you’ve used the routing for top pull …see if you can find a diagram showing the routing for down pull

Edit : no looking again I don’t that’s top pull .. I’m puzzled too, hope you find the solution!

I have absolutely no idea what I’m looking at here and the manual doesn’t have an install section. My best bet is that this is a top pull or bottom pull derailleur only, not a dual pull. Normally with top pulls there’s a “channel” You can run the wire along so it doesn’t have a sharp turn like yours does. But with these pictures I can’t really find that. If it can’t simply directly pull from the bottom, or doesn’t have a arced part you can run the wire along, it may not be compatible with your bike.

  3. You’ve destroyed the cable because it’s clamped between bolt head and washer, not between washer and groove
