Hello, recently purchased my first road bike and happened to be full carbon. Decided I wanted to change the seat height and loosen the bolt and tried to lift up, was stuck so I tried the good old twist and the clamp portion came off the frame. Was wondering if you guys have any ideas on how to remove or is this done for and time to scrap the seat post?

Currently sprayed some penetrant on it and till try again tomorrow(trying to pull it off)

Thank you for helping!

  1. Weird. Maybe some gentle taps with a hammer and punch. If all else fails you could always cut the seat clamp veeery carefully with a handsaw/dremel.

Weird. The clamp should not have been on the post but on the frame. Anyhow, remove the clamp bolt, place the bottom of the post on a bench and tap the clamp down.

  3. The seat tube isn’t round, but I suspect that what you call the seat clamp is a wedge design which tightens maybe a pair of wedges in the seat tube. The hole in the top ‘clap’ had a bolt in it? They might be down in the seat tube. There is no way to tighten that ‘cover’, so whatever has it stuck to the seat post might be galvanic couple corrosion. Try soaking it in Coke, just for a few minutes, that stuff’s evil!
