I finally get to post!
I had a limited budget. Appx 1000cdn total. I have a quality and nicely spaced Hardtail for downhill and while I enjoyed riding it on the gravel roads that surround me I found that I wanted to go father and better explore the various rail trails and flatter stuff. I also was interested in going on some longer potentially overnight trips with a bike.
I came across this Gestalt on clearance. Seemed to check alot of boxes.
With limited remaining budget all that will be done this year while I get into used to a bike with drop bars etc will be upgrading the flat pedals to nicer flats and going with a wider more appropriate tire. Nothing crazy like a 40mm with better tread.
The one glaring item which I find odd is the cables. One in particular is so needlessly close to the front wheel. Im not a bike mechanic. Can this be rerouted or tidied up? I know price reflects setup but I feel like there has to be a better way
Next question a tired that can handle crumby country stone gravel but be alright on asphalt and crushed limestone found on rail trails. What am I looking for? What type of prep do I need to do? Do I have to add a tubeless tape on the rim?
Yes if I spent more money could I get more bike? Yup but I wanted something for now that as I can afford things I can swap stuff out while learning to wrench bikes and riding in between saving.
Im beyond excited to learn this new less sendy of a world. Been lurking on this sub for some time getting tips and I appreciate yah.
