When it comes to supposedly name-brand stuff, I’d avoid AliExpress. I pretty much only buy NOS chains off eBay or ones from big online bike retailers.
I’m not inherently averse to Chinese-made stuff either, but I only buy stuff that’s unapologetically Chinese; haven’t had a problem so far.

This problem has happened to me on both sites, eBay and Ali. The last KMC chain and a Shimano bottom bracket I bought on eBay had good packaging, but after about 6 months of usage, have clearly proven themselves to be fake.

Seriously, on online platforms a chain that’s extremely dirt cheap is a red flag. Likewise some retailers are selling fake chains as some do tend to eventually become frozen stiff after a few days on the bike.
