Your feet, chainrings, and bottle will get all the muck….

The only really stupid thing about it is that your feet just get wet from behind.

install it properly and get some mudflaps i think they are called. for example the company that produces ass savers also have mudflaps which you tie with a zip tie to your fender. or use something more rigid like screws

I am pretty sure the flat track bikes have fenders down low to prevent kick up for the other riders behind them.
The purpose of bike fenders if to prevent kick up for yourself. Having a partial fender that low would still see your back covered in grime.

Why not just use a flap? You mention stairs, but understand this will also break every time you roll your bike down a curb. I have a semi-rigid plastic flap, and every time I go down a curb it makes a loud sound. But at least it doesn’t break the finder. If you did that with the finder it wouldn’t even make it safely out of your front door.

Installing a rear fender as shown in the pic defeats the purpose of a full-coverage fender, which is to keep all of that road muck and grime off of your bike (and off of you).

Get a longer fender? Mud flap helps too.
well if you know it wont work and it’s for aesthetics go for it
I bet you also wear your jeans below your butt.
You’ll get road spray on the backs of your legs. Put it on properly.
Nah, this aint it bruv. Get some long fender flaps for the person behind you. Or make some super long ones from some material at the hardware store.
