Put fresh tubes and the old gold standard in tires, then threw old parts I had like pedals, saddle, etc.

New seat post, new rear brake cables and housing, but honestly most of its original from 1985.

My friend made it into a single-speed years ago, original crank, just took off the two inner rings in the front, big ring is a 46, one sprocket in the back, 16 tooth I believe.

He was gonna sell it but I had never ridden a 26 inch “mtb” or a single-speed and wanted an old project on the side so figured I’d take on the dirty hopper.

It kicks ass out on the trail despite not being my Riv!

Thanks for peeping it and I’ll try to post more updates of my bikes often if that’s fun. I love seeing everyone’s bikes, so many great builds!

This is awesome, but how on earth does one get to the point of owning a Rivendell without ever having ridden a 26er or a single speed?

Interesting, this is quite different from the usual drop bar Rockhopper build. Very stylish tho!
