I just dragged these out from my parents house, where they were stored under a covered deck for the last 25+ years. My brother and I used to ride BMX in Elgin, IL and Scrap in the 90’s. I’d like to get them back to looking good and riding well but don’t know where to start.
Any advice on how to remove rust spots from the frame/handlebars? Are there acid dips or is this something I’ll have to scrub off manually with a brush? I see someone sells Elf decals online but are there any other internal parts I should replace that probably aren’t salvageable?

Word of advice, that blue Mirra seat is valuable as fuck, especially if it’s in good condition.
I found my old one yesterday. Posted a Pic of it on another forum. Ripped up, drawn on with red pen (drew a dick on it, tiny, but still, lol).
Someone offered me $100 for it.
Here’s a link on doing an OA bath to remove the rust. On smaller spots I use krud kutter gel and 0000 steel wool.

Regular Brillo pad and hot water, dry thoroughly, 0000 steel wool then chrome polish, some people use a crinkled ball of foil and a baking soda paste
I had huge Elf envy in the early 90’s. These look chunkier/more solid than I remember. What year are these?
I still have my elf six piece handle bars.
Try to buff the surface runs with a ball of aluminum foil before you try cutting compound or chemical baths. Although a sodium bath won’t hurt anything it the stickers.
