School’s out for late-summer and the lockdown’s off – bike and tent in a plastic bag in the hold and fly away to Italy – 1,250 miles from top to off-the-toe over to Sicilia. Bagging as many Caravaggio’s as possible en route. Mostly following the Via Francigena where it exists north of Roma, and getting bogged down in many an off-road section – lesson learnt and stuck to the black top after Napoli. Weather took a turn in October so snipped out the pre-planned loops through the mountains down south. This is part one of many instalments to follow. The playlist is:
1. “Ricordo Di Venezia” [CD bought from a busker in Venice]
2. Kraftwerk – Europe Endless
3. Elbow – An Audience With The Pope
4. Beck – Guess I’m Doing Fine
5. Goldfrapp – Little Bird
6. Slowdive – Star Roving
7. Laura Veirs – To The Country
8. Brian & Roger Eno, Daniel Lanois – Always Returning
