Just picked up a new bike for the first time – specialized allez CUES, and also my first time with hydraulic brakes. My LBS has a 30 day come back if anything’s wrong policy. Noticed the brake cable going into the front fork is scrunched up like this… is this something that needs to be addressed?
TIA!!

Yeah, I would go back and ask them about that. Brakes are not parts of a bike you want to compromise on
Yes that cable needs to be replaced
It *might* just be the cable housing and not the cable that’s damaged, but you really shouldn’t risk it. Better be safe and have them check and replace it.
Yes, get that fixed! I work at a shop and (as long as someone caught it) we would never let this go out the door without being fixed. Hydraulic hoses shouldn’t look like that at all, it impedes brake function.
That needs replacing, good eye! Maybe something was pushing on the hose during shipping, but it is a quick job to replace it!
That brake line is 100% compromised and should be replaced at no cost to you. It will require a new hose and a brake fill/bleed but should never have been allowed out the door in that state.
Yes. Your LBS has a 30 day if anything is wrong and your brake cable is wrong
Have I used my own brakes that look like that? Absolutely, it’s a pain in the ass to fix and I’ve put it off for a few days. Would I accept that on a new bike? Absolutely not, that’s completely unacceptable.
