Sorry for the shit pics. Here is my night rig. I live in AZ and love riding at night. With AZ breaking 100° already. I’m getting my night rig set up dialed for the season. Last year I probably logged more night miles than anything else. What are some things you’ve done / found to be hacks . My night set up includes a headlamp for the helmet. This is my back up. Primarily I use the Raveman FR300 daytime led, a red blinker on the seat post. ALMSTHRE frame bag. Yes I know I overdid the rip cord. lol. Usually have an electric pump, headlamp and some granola bars, energy gels. Just in case. I also have another handlebar mount projection lamp than travels significantly more distance than the Raveman. I used this when I need see further in front me. Unknown trails etc. Tires are Gravel King TLC 45mm. Shimano / WheelTop Groupset.

The Cygolite Hotrod series tail lights are worth the cost. Ridiculously bright. I’m in an area with a lot of traffic though. Your front light setup seems good though, even verging into overkill. I usually add a handlebar bag for a third water bottle in the summer (Louisiana here).

  2. I just night rode again last night, so this is fresh. Make sure to wear glasses or safety glasses due to the bugs coming at the lights. Zip up your jersey for the same reason. I got hit with so many june bugs and cicadas.

Lights with separate batteries can have the battery put in the frame bag. For helmet lights, they transfer the battery weight to your back pocket which is also nicer than on the helmet.

Lights on the helmet when road riding are really useful for shining at cars stopped at cross streets to try to reduce the chance that they don’t see you and pull out.

Cover the light with your hand when passing someone if you are running full MTB night riding lights.

I wished that I had my helmet light mounted last night when I stopped to pee. It’s weird only having a handlebar light for peeing and changing water bottles.
