Hi guys so I got this issue with my chain and I believe it’s my chain getting loose (front 2nd gear and rear 9, so the hardest gear) when I press my pedals “too hard” the first photo of me pointing my finger is what pushes toward the front wheel making the chain a little loose, and the second photo is the chain that I noticed looks a bit different. Feel free to ask anything and thanks for any help in advance!:)

I really suggest watching [this video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DQmmEvt0rxs) on how derailleurs work to get an idea of what you’re looking at. In the first picture, you’re pointing at the cage. That’s what gives your chain tension. It should be able to move forward and back but should be springloaded to stay as far back as it can. You need that so that your chain maintains tension as you switch to different sized sprockets.
The second picture is the master link of the chain. That’s the connection point for your chain. It’s the link that’s able to come apart so that it’s possible to remove and replace the chain.
Is the actual issue you’re having your chain skipping teeth on the gears when you pedal hard?
The second pic is the quick link to separate the chain.
It’s hard to tell what’s causing the chain issue. Maybe post a video of it happening. Sounds like maybe your chain is too long. Look at the Shimano manual for how long it should be
