I don’t believe there is a nation in Europe with a more tarnished reputation than ROMANIA. Associated with thievery and backwardness, Romania hasn’t quite made it’s name as a world class tourist destination.

But hey, these were old stereotypes. People change, countries change. What is Romania like in 2025? Well, I took a rather casual trip across the entire nation to find out. Join me as we explore not just major cities like Iasi, Brasov and Timisoara, but also Romania’s famous countryside, where old women still walk their herds of cows down the street.

  1. Just a short rectification (for whoever might be interested): Iasi was never the ''capital of modern day Romania…for a long time''! You could consider it a ''war capital'' at most between 1916-1918 (during the 1st World War)! Before Bucharest (the actual capital of Romania), Targoviste was Romania's capital for more than 300 years!

  2. I'm frome HUNEDOARA. I was born and raised there. I played almost every day around the Castel.
I left Romania 30 years ago. To be honest with you I don't recognize almost nothing, except the cathedral in the old town.
I can not believe you don't vizit the real Castel were Vlad Tepes live there for so long. Prizioner
Right now I'm living in Chicago for the last 27 years

  3. THE STORY OF ROSIA POENI AND THE TOWN DEVOURED BY TOXIC SLUDGE GEAMANA IT WILL KILL EUROPE. NEVER GO TO ROMANIA. MAKE THEM CLEAN UP THIER DISASTER FIRST. DO NOT SWIM IN ROMANIA UNLESS YOU WANT CANCER

  4. As a romanian i can only say thank you, idk what cities the germans started or the hungarians or the otomans but…if you check one really old map, our ancestors ( Dacians ) are there with a larger country than it is now…DACIA was the old name of the country…and yes, i don`t want to give you names 😂but they stole our land slowly by slowly, that`s why we have a word in Romania…. Romania is surrounded by romanians 🤣 because in all countries around us, we have romanian communities living there from hundred or thousand of years ago…just ask Gemini or ChatGPT 😉 all started with the roman empire ( do you know that they stole more than 300 TONS of GOLD ? ) long history of invaders, murderers and thiefs…and now they have the balls to call us thiefs? thiefs you have almost or maybe everywhere, but us romanians? we are not stealing…we are just taking back what was ours 😂joking…or maybe not 🤣 and btw….if you were in Brasov…and i see that you like nature and sculpture…why you didn`t go to visit our natural sculpture? 😉 "Sfinxul din Bucegi" and "Babele" , at least check the photos online…you will be surprised and excited…and sad that you didn`t go 😂 i`m keep coming back with more edit on the comment as i watch the video and i want to say about that lady that she is right about the communist era….you didn`t have to worry about a job and you didn`t have to worry about a place to live…they build those communist apartments but nobody knows how good was our live in the neighborhood 😉 a lot more children playing outside..i don`t want to say a number but more than 30 guys the same or almost the same age like me…we had two or three teams of football 😂 and girls? olala…more than us for sure 🤣so yeah…it was a good place to grew up…Life during the communist era was neither easy… nor hard… exactly how life has to be so you don't become too soft… it made us stronger and ready for life 😂😉 but now i see that you know a lot of things that i wrote here 😋 idk if you know about the communists, it`s true that they put romanians to work hard, but only to pay the debts, it was the first and only country who paid and got 0 debt to global central bank and FMI…that`s why we had to work hard…to be independents! After Ceausescu got the debt paid, got executed…in the `90 Romania had 0 debt to anyone and started to get again in debt, now after 35 years we have more 200 billion euros debts to global central bank , FMI and so on..so who had to gain more from his execution? not we the people i tell you for sure…at the end you reminded me of Dracula castle 😂 i didn`t visit and i`m not gonna to 🤣 his real castle and place that live in was at "Cetatea Poenari" 🥰 it`s very difficult to get there and has 1.480 steps to go up…🤣 you have a lot of wonderful castles to visit but maybe not the ones for "tourists" 😂

  5. Go to any former Soviet or Iron Curtain countries and all the older people will tell you that life was better under the Soviet regime. There are exceptions I'm sure.

  6. Vlad the Impaler was not defeated by the Ottomans. They tried to stop him many times using many methods, not only military ones—both the Ottomans and the Hungarians.

He had three reigns and was imprisoned at one point.

In the end, he was betrayed by the boyars, because it is said that he was very fair and enforced the law strictly, and the boyars could not take advantage of their power.

Ultimately, he was betrayed and killed.

There is also a legend that says there was a well with a golden cup. It was never stolen until one day it disappeared. That is how people supposedly realized that Vlad the Impaler had been killed.

It is true that he did not live in Bran Castle.
He was the ruler of Wallachia, one of the three major regions of Romania, along with Moldavia and Transylvania. Bran Castle is located in Transylvania

  7. 2:45 No one is robbing you! 😊3:35 Iasi is NOT the cultural capital of Romania! Iasi is the cultural capital of Moldova!! Sibiu is . 26:50..He was held prisoner there!! .27:27 What you saw there on the road only happens there in that area… Not everywhere in Romania. 30:24 I hope you're joking ..43:45 "Communists pay the bills ????" 😀 We all had to pay bills!! ..48:46 .🤣.I hope it's a bad joke ..53:24 It's not nice to say that Romania is a country of alcoholics!🤨 Because it's not really like that!

  8. That door in the airbnb you were struggling with, if you turned the handle upwards the door would tilt in for airflow without having the whole door open. (newer) European doors and windows are elite compared to the US.

And yes, I've learned since living here the last 2 years that Romanians and ethnic Hungarians have a very sordid past and it's a massively sensitive topic with Romanians. I witnessed how some of the Hungarians treat Romanians here firsthand and it was super disappointing.

  9. my friend escaped Romania and became an engineer in Michigan. he said as soon as he saw signs in Italian, he knew he was safe.

  10. Historical Case (Romania): In the late 1980s, Romania under Nicolae Ceaușescu aimed to pay off all its foreign debt, becoming a net creditor by April 1989, but this led to severe economic stagnation and shortages.
