ellipses are awful. this regularly happening, the axle bolts randomly tightening and destroying the bearings, having a French thread lockring… just all around not a robust or well thought out design compared to their 520 series track hubs.
Mavic is just not a good company. Expensive and unserviceable, you have to hack it

Pardon me for asking, but shouldn’t – if this would be a proper manufacturer of wheels – the thread be made with a lathe on a solid block of metal, instead of a threaded shell?

I had good luck with ellipses but I broke a rear spoke on a ksyrium and I had to find a replacement on eBay. So many different sized spokes and US support makes them very undesirable now
Better off with some decent rims laced to Formula hubs, can’t go wrong with that.
