Beginning near Junction 8 of the M1 in Hemel Hempstead, this undulating countryside and urban walk blends pastoral tranquility with rich heritage.
Footpaths lead across rolling farmland toward the village of Redbournbury. From here, the walk follows the meandering course of the River Ver, its waters weaving through pockets of woodland and serene meadows before arriving in St Albans.
Within the city’s embrace, Verulamium Park unfolds in a sweep of green, leading to the ancient Roman ruins of The London Gate, a silent sentinel to centuries past. The journey homeward leaves the urban landscape behind, tracing quiet rural roads, fields and woodland.
With Hemel Hempstead once again on the horizon, the walk completes its circle, a blend of nature’s gentle beauty and echoes of history.
This walk was filmed in 4K on a GoPro Hero 11, on a sunny Autumnal day in November 2023.
