Evan Edinger, Tom Scott, and Matt Gray race across London. Can an e-bike beat the tube or will the car drive across the finish line first? #RaceAcrossLondon

This video took over a full year to make, from scripting and planning, to shooting and editing. This video was shot in bloody May of last year! But at long last, it’s here. I really hope you enjoy it!
A big thank you is in order for everyone that helped bring this video to life.
A big thanks to Matt and Tom for joining in and being so funny on camera.
A big thanks to Cambria for being such a lovely producer and bringing everything together with the planning skills I wish I possessed.
A wholesome thank you to my friend Luke for helping shoot the thing as well as cutting my shoulder when I ran into him x
A massive thank you to Kim, editor extraordinaire, who has been tirelessly editing this video over the last year in between all the other crazy edits I throw her way. Music selection, swish cuts, the fights with Davinci… it was all worth it!
To Adam for throwing your hat into the ring and helping Kim edit this bad boy down from the insane amount of footage involved.
A thank you to the Ten Bells Pub for renting us the space for the debrief!
A thank you to Phoenix for helping me figure out how to make my credits sequence not look awful.
And a big thank you, to YOU! The viewer, for being so patient. I teased the release of this video like 8 months ago, but I truly couldn’t comprehend how big of an endeavour it was to get it to release. So thanks so much for watching, and I hope you have an amazing rest of your day.
Thank you so much for watching! Hope you enjoyed it!
If you’re new to my channel and videos, hi! I’m Evan Edinger, and I make weekly “comedy” videos every Sunday evening. As an American living in London I love noticing the funny differences between the cultures and one of my most popular video series is my British VS American one. I’m also known for making terrible puns so sorry in advance. Hope to see you around, and I’ll see you next Sunday! 🙂
If you want to know HOW I make my videos including gear, lighting, all the tiddly bits that connect it all together, (with cheaper alternatives and kit I used to use), I’ve listed each item, what it’s great at, and why I use it on the gear section of my website here:

Thanks for the invite, Evan! I wish I could say my game blunders were deliberate for Content, but instead they’ll just haunt me for a while. (Also, blatant plug, Evan’s been on the podcast I host a few times, if you search for “Lateral podcast” on podcast apps you’ll find it!)
would love the comparison with a 4th person getting a cab (including finding the cab)
the biker thnks top gear xd
First there was Matt Parker, then there was Matt parked .
Who's this Tom Scott lookalike who isn't wearing red T-shirts?
Gather round, ye children
To hear the tale so sweet
Of a man who dared to race machines
With nothing but his feet
[…]
Marshall!
Versus the machines!
[SPOILER ALERT]
Even if Tom hadn't won:
1) If he commuted this route regularly he wouldn't make his initial mistake.
2) He can sit down, read a book, answer e-mails, whatever.
Evan's route sure looked nice. But on how many days is the weather this nice in London?
(I still envy him for being a cyclist.)
Commuting by car? No thank you.
Tube is comfortably the fastest way here. If you think about it, Tom managed to make several big errors and still was in front. Unless you attempt it in the middle of the night
And somewhere, on Nebula, a certain Sam is nurturing the idea of replicating this in many many world capitals.
Top gear did this years ago
Thank you sooo much!: I had great fun watching this race!! I am proud of you for your physical performance and for your positiveness as well!
The juxtaposition between complaining about drivers, and behaving like a driver on a bike was pretty funny to me. We're all guilty.
Great music (choice) by the way. Where's it from?
I know this is completely pointless to this in context of this video but the Mulvad VPN Advert on the tube makes me snicker.
Tom Scott, the master of unforced errors.
Tom Gear?
Welcome back TopGear
Toms back to doing side quests.
11 miles by bike takes me 30 minutes in the netherlands …. I would sweat a little more then Evan.
Is this the new, budget, gen X Top-gear?
this video should be an Ad for TfL. Even with all of Tom's unforced errors, he still managed to get there first
It's like when Top Gear used to do their races, but without the idiocy and toxicity of an entitled rich man who would hit someone bc he didn't get a hot dinner.
13:40 This is in no way a realistic commute. A real commuter would know their route down cold, and wouldn't have made a route error.
motorcycles are king in london, lots of free parking, no congestion or ulez!
As a non Londoner that looks sooooo staged, that I don't care if it's genuinely that hard to choose the right direction and will call it staged anyways. 2-3 minutes of planning ahead is all they needed.
I'm glad you remembered to put your helmet on I almost stopped watching!
This was an absolute joy to watch, brought me back to watching Top Gear with my dad. Definitely gonna be rewatching any time I need a pick me up! Amazing job everyone involved!
Tom doesn't use the public transport in London nearly as much as I thought lol, anyone who does would most likely instantly be able to tell a deep-level tube apart from a sub-surface tube
Three pints in London?! YouTube money must be fucking huge!
Geoff Marshall would have won the train journey with a hangover
Damn, Tom is really greying
I´d love to know what Geoff Marshall and Tom the Taxi Driver would have done. Maybe Round two? 😉
Disclaimer: taking public transit is not usually this stressful unless you're Tom Scott in a race. Conversely, driving in London is not usually this relaxing unless you're Matt Gray just vibing. Though Evan's experience seems so wonderful I almost wanna go back to London just to cycle through it!
