looking on upgrading the wheels on my bike to some carbon rims and just wondering what if any benefit there is to a deeper dish on a gravel bike? i know they can improve airodynamics which i'm not too fussed about and they do look cool but is there any other reason to go for the deeper dish? looking at the van rysel wheelsets as i can get them a bit cheaper and just wondering what there is to know before i do the upgrade

  1. It looks cool, and can be more aero. That’s it. If anything they can be annoying with a strong side wind.

If you think they look cool, go for 50mm, if you don’t care about that, 35mm might be more practical.

Unless you’re a pro gravel racer, you won’t see any benefit from 50mm deep rims other than they look kinda cool.
