A dual sport is not a mountain bike so, no. See if you can find a used Marlin or Rockhopper. Preferably 1x but the 2x options are fine as well.
First off, this is not a mountain bike. This is a hybrid/fitness bike for groomed gravel greenways and bike paths, as well as streets and such
Second off, that is an absurd price. He’d be lucky to get $200-250 for it.
You can find better for $500.
This is a hybrid bike. You could do some very light trail riding with this but it would get sketchy quickly.
Look for a Marlin, rockhopper, or Roscoe
my wife rides the same bike to get to work. Don’t take this on a proper trail please, they’re not meant for that.
