Shimano had a rough year last year, only taking in Â¥34.2 billion in net income. Converted to USD, that’s only about $215 million. This fine works out to about 5.3% of their 2025 net income.

That is not nearly enough, and I hope that some of the people who were injured succeed in suing for millions.

  2. I got an ultergra crankset that was creaking under load. I found out it was the crank after I changed the BB, bolt checked everything. Than I swapped the crank from another bike and the creaking went away. When they announced the recall, I brought it to the lbs, they said it was fine per shimano criteria. Should I try again to get it checked? After that problem was ignored I went for campy formy latest bike.
