On the other hand, it is said that people are warmer in the western part.
It WAS one of the best region of France. You forgot one detail: the invaders. You speak of immigration issues in other parts of France, but Occitanie is completely invaded by islamists. Islamist immigration is ruining France, on purpose, thanks to the EU. Before to move to France, inform yourself in French about the geopolitical and socio-economical HUGE issues that France is having with immigration, violence and insecurity.
No idea what you are looking for but we stayed in a nice 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom, 2 deck place with amazing views of the Pyrenees for a month In Cailhau that’s for sale. I tried posting a link to the listing but it seems YouTube won’t let me. It has a full height garage that is mostly undeveloped that you could do something with too. Good luck!

I live in occitanie, but I preferred next to Montpellier, you stay not far away from Spain, and not far away from Italia. And Montpellier it's gorgeous town.

Occitanie is a wonderful area. We relocated from Brittany to Occitanie. Look at Aude. We're in Quillan an hour from ski resorts and the Mediterranean.
