  1. Yes just pop it out with a flat head screwdriver Behind it will be a socket hex or normal hex head bolt that you need to remove. And then you need a special tool/adapter to pull off the pedal arm. A crank puller or crank arm remover.

    After that then you’ll need a crank box remover

    Are you just changing the sprockets and pedal arm or the actual crank box in the frame ?

    That’s just a dust cover, your need to remove it to access the bolt/nut 

  3. You are going to need certain tool called a crank puller. Under the plastic cap is a nut to remove, then you would thread on the crank puller. But you’ll need to get the puller specific to your crank. One to use on a tapered spindle bottom bracket. It’s no too hard to damage the crank arm threads if you do it incorrectly so maybe find someone who has done it before.
