All big Tours like this should have AT LEAST one "rain day" scheduled into it. If it doesn't get used, call it a rest day. That's WAY better than scrambling around, shortening, and re-routing stages.
Announcers notes before the stage started: "Make sure to work in the word "penultimate" as many times as possible during the broadcast."
