Hi all

I've just noticed the chain ring bolt for the pedal has fallen off again (I think this is the third time). Previously bought whole new sets of bolts and a specific tool and made it as tight as possible.

Unfortunately that boot is different to the others… Does anyone know of a way of buying just that one bolt? Also any suggestions of using locktite blue or red or something to try and keep it attached?

For clarity I mean the long one in this set of bolts https://brilliantbikes.co.uk/brompton-chainsets/1716-brompton-spider-chainbolts.html

Thanks 🙂

  1. what has chainring bolt got to do with the pedal? do you have a picture or something? do u mean the chainring bolt that is attached to the driveside crank? if it isn’t gripping, that means the bolt is too short, or the shaft is too long that the special tool couldn’t grip the two notches properly to lock it up.

never use red locktite on serviceable part tightener. they are nightmare to remove. imagine if u wanna change the chainring someday and u have to deal with it

  2. Are you referring to the bolt in the non-driveside crank arm? If that’s the case your crank arm is likely damaged and you will need a new crank arm. The bolt is probably fine.
