    The free a
Spirit looks in better overall shape. At least it has a nice paint job still. Fixing up an old bike to have it still look like shit can be a bummer

The blue bike looks in better condition. The gears are shiny and you can see a frame reflection in the brake track in the rear wheel. Plus it has a metallic dork disc, which I think is neat.

OP if you’ve never serviced a pre-cartridge square-end spindle bottom bracket, take pictures and use online guides, also get the tools ahead of time. But judging from the condition of the rest of the bike you shouldn’t need to do it straight away.

  3. The Nishiki is arguably a higher quality bike. The Free Spirit was a department store bike of the time

  4. I would take the Nishiki hands down. It’s a higher quality bike and will be easier to rebuild/maintain. Note that the front quick release is not fastened properly

  5. Free Spirits are crap. Nishiki is a better bike. Owner’s lucky the front wheel didn’t fall off.
