Fresno’s Active Transportation Plan and Vision Zero both are being put in to place this year after receiving $250M from the State to fix its abysmal biking infrastructure.
Fresno received an abysmal 26 score on BikesForPeople, yet still up from just 19 in 2024. So it’s trending upward and shows that city council members and residents in Fresno are making bicycling changes.
Now, with these two new projects, Fresno has the chance to be like Davis … or at least close. And why can’t it? It’s practically entirely flat with speed bumps being the biggest hills, and the city streets are designed like a perfect square grid. Installing safe, dedicated bicycling infrastructure should be a complete breeze. Now that the money’s there and construction has started, is this Fresno’s big break to become an actual healthy, active city other than the polluted car centric mess it’s been known for?
