Can anyone help me diagnose this sound? It's driving me crazy. I'm no mechanic, so there might be something obvious I'm missing here, but I'm at a loss. The sound is much worse when I'm actually riding rather than turning the crank.

A couple notes:

-it only happens in the smaller cogs, 8-12, and mostly just when I'm in the large chainring up front

-i've indexed to both extremes and the sound hasn't changed up until the point it's caused to switch into another gear. I've tightened and loosened the B-screw and it doesn't seem to have any effect. I've also checked and cleaned the pulleys and cassette and everything seems fine

-it sounds to me like the chain is grinding on something but it really doesn't appear to be touching either derailleur

-Sram Rival AXS 2×12, if it matters

What is this sound?

Is the chain routed through the derailleur properly? Sounds like it’s rubbing against the folded metal tab between the jockey wheels.

Try dialing in the micro adjust. I have the same drivetrain (tho the Force version) and it is just kinda noisy in those gears. Noisy enough SRAM offers these: https://www.universalcycles.com/shopping/product_details.php?id=108916
