I’ve been riding the 35 mm Continental GP 5000 AS TR for about 150 km now on my Canyon Grizl. Around 95% of my riding is on paved roads.

So far, my impression is that the bike feels a bit better to ride and rolls more efficiently with these tires. It feels like I need slightly less effort to maintain the same speed, and my average speed has increased a little as a result.

I’d be interested to hear if others have had similar experiences with these tires—especially on a gravel bike that’s ridden mostly on asphalt.

  1. Put some good road tyres on a gravel bike, and you’ve got 95% of a road bike. The remaining 5% is gearing, aero, etc. The Grizl geometry is quite aggressive so not that different from a road bike.

  2. How much speed increase ?

On my side I changed tires + wheels (switched to 50mm Farsport). I think I had an increase between 1kmh and 3kmh. That’s on some specific segment, at comparable watts and conditions. On a regular ride, it’s impossible to measure as the speed depends on so many external factors.
