We finally arrive at one of our bucket list destinations – Lake Annecy – staying on a 5 star campsite… but things don’t quite go to plan 😬
This week we head to Lake Annecy – a place that’s been on Amanda’s bucket list for years – and check into a 5 Star ⭐ campsite with huge expectations. Unfortunately, our pitch isn’t what Amanda hoped for and she is left feeling pretty disappointed.
Thankfully the mood lifts when we meet up with friends who are staying with us for the week and the following day head out on our bikes, cycling the stunning west side of Lake Annecy and into the beautiful old town for a quick look around.
The next day is extra special – it’s our 20th wedding anniversary ❤️ We celebrate in true us style by tackling two iconic climbs – Col du Lechaux and Montée du Semnoz. Amanda’s electric bike battery runs out part way up, Mark has to continue on alone… but she digs deep and makes it to the top!
On the way back down we stop at a lovely café for our anniversary dinner before finishing the day by opening a very special bottle – a 20 year old port we bought in Porto a couple of years ago 🍷

Happy anniversary. Well done for completing that climb. I’ve just had one mountain climb that my battery ran out – the Dalsnibber in Norway, I had in 2 km left but there was no way my heavy electric bike was going to get up to the top without power so that’s a climb I need to revisit! I have a new electric bike now and it’s much better at using less power on the flat so has plenty for the tough parts, also has an extender battery I can use for longer rides. Anyway when I was 50 , I decided to do a paraglide at Lake Annecy. Absolutely hated it 😂😂 never again! Great video and well done once again, I know that was tough x

Fab video guys! We love lane annecy a few years back, tried to do the loop on our bikes that weren't electric at the time and got a flat tyre half way round so got the boat back! 😂😂

Agree with you about Lac Bleu, well over rated, we actually stayed in the Aire across the road for a couple of nights instead of there when we were travelling through, well done on the bike ride, next time take your charger, always handy in an emergency ✅
