I am looking to get my first gravel bike after borrowing a few different bikes for a while. I have a mountain bike, and I have been getting into road and gravel cycling. I will be riding probably 70% road, 30% gravel, so I want something quick enough not to be sluggish on road/paved paths. My budget is around 2-2.5k. Trying to decide if a new bike on sale or a marketplace used bike is the right way to go. Specifically, a 2020 Pivot Vault with Ultegra and carbon wheels found on marketplace, or a new Cervelo Aspero – Apex xplr 1. Any advice or other suggestions appreciated, thanks!

Pivot, talk him down a couple hundred and take to a bike shop for a full tune up. Wheels and groupset make this an easy choice IMO

Pivot for the wheels and groupset no doubt. To match typical rodie speeds you would need to upgrade the chainring on that cervelo.
