My main experience with gravel tires is Schwalbe G-One bite in 45mm and Gravelking Slick in 40mm also others but less than 100km so irrelevant.
After having tested the grip/trail version for around 50km on various surfaces ranging from tarmac, through light gravel, through forest paths up until lightly nuddty trails – I can say:
- They roll nice, rolling resistance is really low on hard surfaces. I felt very little difference to the gravelking slicks apart from ( really subjective ) compund seems to feel a bit harder.
- They are really pressure sensitive, I initially pumped them up around 5-6 PSI higher than what the Silca calculator suggested and they felt really harsh. After dropping to the proper settings they much better.
- Very little to no sound and/or road buzz.
- Cosnidering the depth of thread they make you feel very confident when cornering on light gravel and forest paths. I would not do steep turns in the mud though.
That would be it, shoot if you have any questions.

These probably will be my next tires in 45mm. Currently using GK X1 40mm, which are fine but I do more road with the gravel bike, so I really don’t need the added grip
Thank you for sharing!
They look like they would kick up a bunch of sand/gravel at you. Experience any of this?
So not as cushy as the gravelkings?
How did you find the braking? I’ve put a lot of miles on various fast rolling tires (Tufo Thunderos, Schwalbe G-One RS, Conti Terra Speed, Challenge Getaway, Pathfinders etc). Currently running the Tufo Thunderos, which I’ve been very happy with overall (rolling, weight, durability, etc) but I find them to be really lacking under braking even compared to other fast tires. It’s a struggle to not lock up the rear under any kind of hard braking. I think this is where the Thundero is at it’s worst, though I’d argue that braking in gravel isn’t nearly as big of a deal as in mountain biking.
Just curious as I always thought the Terra Speed was pretty good under braking….but I wore it out in about 800 miles.
