This is on a Shimano Sora ST-R3000. I cut the old cable and installed a new one. At first I thought everything was fine, but when I tried shifting nothing happened.
I now realize the cable is not seated in the shifting mechanism. However, I’m not able to remove the new cable anymore. Is it possible to get it out?
I was trying to get my wife's bike feeling like brand new for spring, but this is driving me crazy.

if you shift it a few times you should be able to expose the area where the cable head is supposed to seat which should give you room to dig the cable head out with a little sharpened pick or similar.
It’s fiddly, but doable. Don’t get too rough though.
