We wanted to learn how Canyon build hundreds of thousands of bikes a year in their German assembly plant. So who better to show us than YouTube LEGEND Sam Pilgrim?!
Canyon offered us the chance to head to Koblenz with Sam, to get a fully guided tour of their assembly plant, with Sam put through his mechanical paces, building up a few new Torque:ON eMTB’s.
Sounds simple, right? It turns out that there’s no time to mess things up, or have a brew mid-build, as this factory stops for no one, not even Sam!
He’s got to prep the frame, feed the cables through, fit the forks, motor and battery, and get the wheels and tyres ready to go – it’s non-stop…
So, how did he do? Find out here.

For more information on the updates to Canyon’s re-worked batteries for the Torque:ON and Spectral:ON, follow these links 👉

Huge thanks to Sam Pilgrim for coming with us to Germany, and to Canyon for showing us around!

  1. You mean in the factory, you don't use the sidewalk to remove burs, and not use a rock as a hammer? How can you function? Still, it was fun to see how it is done in the Canyon Factory, and no American Guy Dusty to hit on the head!

  2. I've now watched the whole video, and two questions come to mind.

    1) If someone can ride a bike like Sam, how can they have so little technical understanding?

    2) How can you build such crappy bikes with such a production line, bikes that fall apart like the Torque, or the Spectral where the chain saws through the frame, or where the batteries are just absolute garbage?

  3. So Sam pilgrim gets a new bike and us poor customers that bought canyons with the faulty battery’s got told not to ride them for a year.. given a new battery that’s still incased in plastic and a poxy cheque for £150 never buying a canyons again! Avoid at all costs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  4. i have the torque on cf8 2024 and no my battery hasn't been changed while it is cracked at the bolts. I've been waiting for more than a year now! I'm really disappointed in the customer service of canyon.
