I want to buy my first new road bike with a budget of around €4.300. My last one was a old bike from my uncle, which i rode 8000km on. Sadly, the bike starts to show its age.

I would really like a canyon, because I really like their bikes.

I did some research and ended with these two bikes:
-the canyon ultimate CF 7 di2 aero
-and the canyon aeroad CF slx 7 di2.

I've already made a very short ride on them(5 minutes) and they both feel good.
The ultimate is heavier and less aero than the aeroad, so the aeroad should be the better bike.
But I fear that the aeroad might be less comfortable.
The rides that I do are usually 90 km with 800 meters of elevation.

Is the aeroad less comfortable on this kind of rides or won't I feel a difference?

  1. I truly don’t understand the use case for the ultimate anymore. Any company making two bikes these days makes no sense.

  2. I love my ultimate but if / when u buy again it would be an aeroad, it’s not heavy enough to make that much difference climbing and has the more aero advantage in other situations

  3. Honestly, I really don’t see a reason to go with a non-aero bike. The aero bikes have gotten so good, there really isn’t much downside.

Check out some YouTube videos that analyze this exact question. Reach is going to be a little longer and stack a little shorter on the Aeroroad. So you will be more stretched out. With integrated cockpits, forget about swapping for a shorter reach unless you want to spend another $300. Today the whole UAE team were on their aero bikes for Strade Bianche and that seems to be the trend across the peloton.
