Exploring Rookhope Kitchen – A Hidden Gem for Bikers & Foodies!
Join me on a scenic ride through the stunning autumn colours of County Durham as I head to Rookhope Kitchen**, a cosy café tucked away in the heart of Rookhope. In this video, I share the journey from Neville’s Cross, passing historic spots and breathtaking views along the A68 and B62916, before arriving at this biker-friendly café.
✅ **What’s inside:**
* Beautiful countryside roads & autumn landscapes
* Tips for winter bike protection (XCP Rust Blocker vs ACF-50)
* Honest review of Rookhope Kitchen – great food, quick service, and why bikers love it
* Insider tip: How to get through the keypad entry!
💬 **Menu highlight:** Sausage & bacon sandwich + tea for £6.50 – excellent quality and value!
If you’re riding the Coast-to-Coast route or exploring the North Pennines, make sure to stop here instead of Stanhope – you won’t regret it.

Morning Gordon. Nice ride loving the colours and scenery. Got to take advantage of the weather day by day mate thank you for taking me with you…old dave
As a midland resident with County Durham roots I am sorely tempted to move back after watching this.Thank you for taking us along with you..Ride safe..
Nice to see you taking the 'secret' way from Stanhope. I always go that way. It avoids the tear arses on plaky racers flying up to Hartside. Great video of my local patch.
thanks for the ride, nice to see the opposite side of the country, I live NW Morecambe bay, not bee over your way for some time, must put it on me list for next year, thanks again

Thank you very much for visiting, we love the video, we have already had visiters from watching your video, so greatly appreciated, we hope to see you again!
And WHY is that " cafe " any bike friendlier than any other bloody pub ? 🙄🙄🙄👎👎👎👎
I usually use ACF50 initially I used a HVLP kit but found the air coming through when the trigger wasn’t pulled blew the already sprayed product. Last few years used my compressor and like you say you do need to be careful with wheels and brakes. This year I changed again and this has been the best and easiest so far. I bought one of those mini compressors airbrush gadgets used by artists nail technicians etc and applying ACF50 couldn’t be easier it’s very frugal and precise. They’re pretty cheap although you can spend probably 100 pounds my one cost 16 pounds and works perfectly well.
Being a Durham local, I'm up that way quite a lot (and pretty much everywhere in rural County Durham …and surrounding counties). As you say, there's great views from that small road above Weardale.
I've never stopped at that particular cafe' (although I have been in that building before it was a cafe'). I'll have to try it out next time I'm up that way. I tend to carry on to Allenheads and 'The Hemmel' cafe.
Thanks for sharing, I'll keep your tip in mind for next time I'm coming up north from Guernsey.
Watched, liked, and subscribed!
You must of went past my house in Willington, never heard of this cafe so will now give it a try.
Many thanks for the ride along.
Thanks for this. Always up that area and only just heard of the cafe. Will definetly be up there this week sometime.
Looking foward to dropping in there..looks canny…and I'll see down the marina next year on the ducati mate.
I’ve been looking for a cafe for ages in that area. I will call in next time I’m passing.
Had only ridden through Rookhope last week, but wasn't aware of this cafe – sounds ideal though, will give it a try!
