In March 2024 I did the LONGEST TRAIN JOURNEY IN THE UK, all the way from Aberdeen in Scotland to Penzance in Cornwall, England. Some people have asked WHY ON EARTH I did the Longest Train Ride in the UK? So here’s why! (Clue: it’s a ‘you never know what’s around the corner so just DO IT NOW BEFORE IT’S TOO LATE thing…) If you like my videos, it’d be wonderful if you could buy me a coffee – thanks! https://buymeacoffee.com/bevmattocks

  1. Very ambitious doing that journey. It is incredibly long and made worse by the number of stops. Particularly difficult in Cornwall where the line speed is lower. The section between Exeter and Penzance is excruciating.
From Aberdeen you would have had six different drivers. That is how long it is.

  2. Good for you Bev. We lost my mother in law during Covid to dementia and it was horrible to witness. I also believe like you, do it while you can. I’m retirement age but I keep working because it keeps my mind active and I do things with my wife that keeps her active too. Best wishes and I hope you manage the C-PTSD situation as best as possible.

  3. Trains are magical and although I have been on many across Europe I do so love our network across the UK….it gets knocked a lot by us Brits but if you use it right it can be so much fun. Good luck with all the personal stuff, never forget life is amazing šŸ™‚
