John moved to Milton Keynes in 1974 when he got a job as a transportation planner with the MK Development Corporation. He shares his pride in being part of the team that developed the Redways, relaying that after a long process of negotiation with Central Government MKDC were permitted to combine lanes for pedestrians and cyclists which became the Redways, the largest cycle network in the country.
This HLF-funded project celebrates the fiftieth anniversary of Milton Keynes. We interviewed more than 50 people who have made the town their home, who shared their memories, experiences, and hopes for the future. For more information about the project, visit www.mkpeoplesstories.co.uk
