  1. How cool, congratulations on the electric bike! It makes cycling much easier and offers much more freedom in terms of distances. Spring has sprung this week, wonderful to go to the beach with the kids, no traffic jams or parking fees.

  2. Great! Please don't park it in front of your house though (especially night time) as these get stolen a lot. A gps tracker may also be a good idea. PS remember you are parking thousands of dollars worth on the pavement so a simple big lock wont stop thieves. But enjoy your new bike. Congratulations 🥳

  3. Warning!!! Dutch law (art. 58a lid lid 3 RVV 1990) says that children under 8 only can be transported on your bike if they are seated with a proper and safe support for their back, feet and hands!! In practice this means a certified children's seat.

  4. You can get theft insurance on your bike as well. I highly recommend so you can get your money back if someone steals it. Just make sure to read the fine print. Congrats on your new ebike! They're amazing!

  5. Bakfiets translates to “boxbike”, in the Anglosphere they’re usually called cargo bikes.
Bucket bike translates to “emmerfiets” 😂
Anyhow, love your take on the NL, and especially your observations re the cultural differences between 🇺🇸 and NL.

  6. Have e-bikes impacted the Dutch life positively at all? I would have thought with all the flat surfaces it would be comparatively easy for most bike riders to pedal. They are also faster so does that add any danger to the situation?
