Join me for a 77 mile ride around the West Midlands, with only a few miles on the road. We use canal towpaths and disused railways to make our way from Birmingham city centre, through the suburbs and up to Brownhills, down to Walsall and West Bromwich before heading north to Wolverhampton. We then heading down to Wombourne before heading into Dudley, over to Selly Oak and then back to Birmingham. Enjoy!

Black Country Ring at some point? Similar length. Oh and Daw is pronounced Doe ;). Good stuff Nathan, thank you!
Amazing how much beautiful area can be found in surprising places thanks 😊
You'll be pleased to learn that the previously very muddy section of the old railway line between Wombourne and Himley now has a smooth tarmac surface.
Love the videos , exceptionally good viewing and lots of historic titbits also thrown in , I've been watching your videos for my future canal rides , well done merry Christmas and happy new year 🎊🎊!
Can I ask what garmin you use? and how u get on with it? been looking at bike computers but like everything very mixed reviews
A bit of advice when going through tunnels (canal or disused railway). Take you sunglasses of when entering!
McClean also brought clean water to Walsall at his own expense. There was cholera at the time. The old railway is now open to Lichfield, a bit rough still but open. Brilliant.
Crackin Nath. I used to work in the building that is over the canal… Brindley House. It looked a LOT warmer when you filmed that, than it is now!
What a fantastic video what bike are you on please?
Great video ❤
I wonder how successful the Boatman's was. Concidering there is a pub literally next door. The white building next to the first lock you went down is a pub. I don't how long it's been a pub though. After you passed Rollingmill Street. There is what looks like a park. It is actually a former cemetery. It is where Sister Dora was buried. After she passed away in 1878. When she passed away. Her funeral drew masive crowds. Railway workers carried her coffin to the funeral. She is still buried there and local residents still leave flowers on her grave.
Great video mate. I remember cycling the same or similar and partial routes in and around wolves , Walsall etc during my younger days, I loved everything about it 🙏.
70 miles is an admiral achievement, so well done mate , and I've now subscribed after a friend sent me a link to this video, and so I'll be sure to watch your other uploads of similar stuff.
All best for 2026 mate 🍻
Thanks
I've always wondered what that air vent was, my friend used to live round the corner from there and it always intrigued me
Really lovely video 😊 . I live in Halesowen so really nice to see so many local areas covered. Lapal is pronounced Laple, as is in apple but with an L 😊
